A Merry little California Christmas

I hope everyone had the best holiday this past weekend/week! After getting back from the road trip we had a busy week getting gifts for friends and family along with balancing dinner parties, meet ups, etc. But we made it through! I absolutely LOVE Christmas time and spending time with family.

This year we split Christmas between Joey’s family and my own. So A LOT of driving back and forth was involved, but it was very much worth it. Does anyone else deal with splitting the holidays? It can be so stressful, but I always remind myself that I am so blessed and lucky to have so many people to see and spend time with.

I don’t know about your family traditions but playing games is always a big part of our holiday. Below is my list of the best games for some holiday fun!

  • Catchphrase (our #1 go to game and longest running family tradition)
  • HeadsUp
  • Crazy 8
  • Yahtzee
  • Tenzi (a dice game that I’ve had forever but never played till this year, and it is SO much fun)
  • Murder Mystery Dinner (we didn’t do so hot with this game this year :/)
  • Cards Against Humanity (not the most family friendly game, and it did get a little awkward at times but it had everyone dying of laughter)

If you guys have any good games, please let me know! And about Cards Against Humanity, if you haven’t played before, it’s a little R-rated so I would suggest really considering the environment/mood of the people you’re playing with. For example, grandparents probably wouldn’t enjoy it very much.

Merry (day after) Christmas!

  1. A little late but Merry Christmas! I was home in NZ for Christmas this year.. like you – driving backwards & forwards between family gatherings. I have a lot of brothers and they are all spread around the place so it can be a lot of mileage in the car. But it was a great day nonetheless .. looking forward to seeing what you get up to in the new year (that sounded a little stalkery but I didn’t mean it to :D)

  3. I too, have played Cards Against Humanity at Christmas with my brother, boyfriend and mom. Everyone was drinking which made it bearable and hilarious! We played UNO this year and had just as much fun; one round even lasted nearly 2 hours!!
